Back from Germany...

I've been back for 3 days now. The jet-lag has worn off. My feet are no longer swollen. I have stopped calculating "Munich time". But one thing that hasn't stopped yet...my mind is still spinning in the wonder of all the things I saw and experienced there.

This was my first trip to Europe and I don't think that I could've had a more near-perfect first-time European trip. The German people are very nice and welcoming. I made friends from every continent in the world (except Antarctica...and really, who lives there???). I learned a few more words in German. I explored all of Bavaria and spent a day in Austria. I saw the oldest castle in Germany. I saw the highest waterfall in Germany. I drove a stick shift for a few brief moments on the Autobahn (I have never driven a manual shift car, but they gave my automatic away and I couldn't resist a chance to try it out...Don't ask!) I ate a pretzel twice the size of my head and found a beer that actually didn't make me gag. (I'm not a beer drinker, so what can I say? I would be if I lived in Germany, though!) I visited the Neuschwanstein Castle, which has always been a dream of mine. I fell in love briefly with a beautiful German man at the Marienplatz in downtown Munich. I hiked in the Alps, rode a bike around Swan Lake, and drank from a spring in the Black Forest.

What could be better?

Maybe some pictures, you say?

I'm still sorting through the 900 or so of them. I'll be posting a few soon!

Now it's time for y'all to catch me up on what's been going on since I've been gone...
-------------------------------
P.S. I was a good girl and didn't crack any of my poor-taste jokes about Nazis. This was a milestone for me as typically I will call anyone a Nazi who is bossy and rude. Once it almost slipped as the waiter we had at the Hofbrauhaus (on our third night out there) was not nice and told us we had to get a pretzel elsewhere. I covered nicely, though as I exclaimed, "Sheeeesh! He didn't have to be such a Pretzel Na....uhhh...Not-Giver-Outer!"

Bad, I know. Blame it on Seinfeld.

I tried to hide my half-Jewishness when I was in Germany.

Sounds like a great trip. Germany is one of my favorite places to visit (although I have not been in several years).

You should tell us more about how you "fell in love briefly" with a German man...

Thomas...Good call.

E...Thanks! I don't think I was ever in a funk, but if I gave off that funk-y impression, then I'm glad to be back to hot stuff! ;)

Deepsat...Pics coming really soon!

Yrautca...Awwww. And I didn't even get to wish you luck and say goodbye. Hope the move goes well!

Starboard...Lucky you visiting multiple times! I fell in love with this beautiful German man, dressed in navy blue business suit. He had just gotten off the train and I had just sat myself down to enjoy a McDonald's hamburger (I'd been living off sausages, pretzels and beer for days!) Our eyes locked. He smiled. I smiled. We smiled. And we stared and smiled dreamily at one another until he disappeared from view. He nearly tripped over a bike turning around staring over his shoulder and I let ketchup drip down my shirt. We would have been the perfect couple. ;) I should've chased him down.

Keshi...Thanks girl! And I did stop back by. She's so adorable.

That's awesome! I'm glad you have a good trip. I've been to Germany a few times but I would still want to go back and see a little bit more. The world's small -- but not too small to ever stay put :)

Wow - Great post!!! I'm right behind you on the jet lag... still in Amsterdam in my head when I wake up at 3 in the morning, but I'm getting better at staying up in the evenings past 6pm LOL! That is one hefty pint there my friend!! Also, lovelovelove your evil stump - what a hoot of a picture! Did you know I was sitting in my music class (I played the glockenspiel) in the 7th grade when I was caught with my book about Pompei propped up inside the boring music book? Nice vacation pictures - of course you know I think the forest pictures are the most lovely. Did you eat Black Forest Cake, with lovely cherries and chocolate? Did you see any cuckoo clocks from there? Welcome back, and FYI, I haven't even begun to sort through my pictures yet. Unfortunately, our Sony digital blew something inside out, and broke in Rome. So no pictures of Amsterdam (OH such a tragedy :-(((() and none of our short stint in Paris.
