Red monoliths ablaze in the sunset glow
Home of the Ancients, the Hopi, the Navajo
The Colorado River in the canyon pushes through
Rapids roaring, currents carving sculpture in rich, chocolate hue
Pueblo ruins peering over the high cliff edge
Petroglyphs, pictographs painted on rock ledge
Will soon fade out in the dying light
Covered by the darkness of approaching night
The dying echo of clashing Bighorn Sheep
The coming of night, soon to put them to sleep
Cactus flowers closing up along the dusty ground
The quiet of the stars becomes the only sound
It only lasts a while, this stillness phase
Until sunrise hits red monoliths, setting them ablaze
How about the weather we've been having?
